What You'll Create
During the workshop, you'll design and hand-carve your own wax ring.
Wax carving is one of the oldest and most respected techniques in jewellery making. It allows complete creative freedom before the design is transformed into precious metal through the traditional lost-wax casting process.
Every participant creates something completely different.
Some designs are organic and sculptural.
Others are simple and minimalist.
There is no right or wrong—only your own creativity.
Once the workshop is complete, I'll personally oversee the casting, finishing, and polishing of your ring before it's carefully packaged and posted to you.
What Happens During the Evening?
Welcome
We'll begin with a relaxed introduction over bubbles and nibbles, giving everyone the opportunity to settle in and enjoy the creative atmosphere.
Designing Your Ring
I'll introduce you to wax carving, explain the process, and show examples of different design possibilities.
You'll learn how to transform your ideas into a wearable piece of jewellery.
Carving Your Ring
Using professional jewellery tools, you'll slowly carve and refine your design while I guide you throughout the evening.
With only six participants, there's plenty of time for individual support and encouragement.
The Casting Process
Once your wax model is complete, I'll professionally cast your design into solid sterling silver using the traditional lost-wax casting technique.
Each ring is then hand-finished and polished before being delivered to you.

Do I need any experience?
Not at all.
Most participants have never made jewellery before.
I'll guide you through every step, so all you need to bring is your curiosity and creativity.
Will I leave with my ring?
Not on the day.
At the end of the workshop, your wax model will be professionally cast into solid sterling silver before being hand-finished and polished.
Once complete, your ring will be carefully packaged and posted to you.
Can my ring be made in gold instead of sterling silver?
Absolutely.
As a jeweller and goldsmith, I can cast your design in 9ct, 14ct, or 18ct yellow, white, or rose gold.
The workshop fee includes sterling silver casting. If you'd like your ring cast in gold, I'll happily provide a personalised quote after the workshop based on the weight of your design and the current gold price.
Many people begin with sterling silver, while others choose to create a truly special heirloom piece in gold.
Can I add gemstones or diamonds?
Absolutely!
Stone setting is a more advanced jewellery-making technique, so it's something we'll explore once you've gained confidence with the basics. After you've completed a few workshops and become familiar with the wax carving process, you'll have the opportunity to design more intricate pieces incorporating natural gemstones or diamonds.
When you're ready, I'll guide you through the design process and help you choose stones that best suit your piece.
Please note that gemstones, diamonds, and stone setting are priced separately, with the final cost depending on the type of stone, setting, and design.
I love seeing students grow their skills over time, and adding gemstones is a wonderful next step for those wanting to create an even more personal and unique piece.
How long does it take to receive my finished ring?
Your ring is usually ready within 2–3 weeks, depending on casting schedules.
I'll let you know the expected timeframe during the workshop.
What if my ring doesn't fit?
We'll carefully size your finger before you begin carving, ensuring the best possible fit.
If adjustments are needed afterwards, resizing can be arranged for most designs at an additional cost.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing is perfect.
Wax carving can create a little dust, so I'd recommend wearing something you don't mind getting slightly dusty.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely.
Many guests book together, while others enjoy coming on their own.
Both are equally welcome.
Is this suitable as a gift?
Yes.
